Your Virtual Memories

Tell a story

Our experience with so many photo shows for so many families and organizations has given us some rules of thumb you may wish to consider as you envision your new photo show.

Think sequence
Unless you have something special in mind, the photos should usually be in the order events took place. If you have photos from more than one camera, or still shots and video clips, the two sequences should be combined into one.

Think before and after
Include photos that start before the heart of the moment and end after the peak. Before boarding, before dinner, before the vows. After the little boys have their shirt-tails pulled out, after the women have kicked off their high-heels.

Think audience
A photo show for your own use will include a different mix of photos than a photo show intended as a gift. A photo show for family viewing will include a different mix from a photo show that will be offered to business associates or organization members after an event. Think about who will see each photo show, and consider creating different photo shows for each expected audience, with some photos appearing in both.

Think balance
Select your photos to include as many as possible of the people present (the couple and the guests, the guest of honor and the families), even if you have many more photos of the most photogenic or active or humorous participants. If you have a very large number of photos of one family or one person, perhaps you can plan for one photo show that captures the whole event, and then a second photo show that includes only the many photos of a certain group.

Think annual editions
Once you have succeeded with a photo show for a given event or a given period in the life of the family, you have a model for photo shows reaching back into previous years, previous photoalbums, previous weddings, previous holidays, other "guests of honor" that deserve photo shows of their own. It is never too late to make a photo show; you will love having a library of photo shows on your shelf. And of course we look forward to commemorating future years for you as well.
